YOUNGEST CHILDREN are funnier and more relaxed than their older siblings, according to the findings of a new study.
Research published by YouGov shows that the age-old character differences between oldest and youngest siblings may actually be true.
According to Metro.co.uk, youngest children are more likely to say they are funnier, more favoured by their parents (hmm) and more relaxed than their elder siblings.
Meanwhile, first borns claim they are more responsible, more successful and more able to ‘prioritise their own lives’ than their little brothers and sisters.
The researchers conclude that these differences may be down to age, and also “family forces” at work:
Parental attention soon shifts onto new arrivals, and first borns may have to learn the ropes themselves. As evidence, elder siblings are more likely to feel more organised and able to prioritise their own lives. Likewise, younger siblings are more likely to feel more favoured by their parents.
True to form, middle children are completely left out of the study. Sorry guys.
